Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 7 is now with us. We got the first episode of the new season last night and it was great.
The episode featured a moment between Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero) where they thought they might be pregnant.
There was an episode in Season 6 where they discussed having a baby.
During this episode, they agreed that they wanted children, but weren’t ready yet.
It looks like Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 7 will be the moment when they have a child.
Season 7’s premiere episode saw Amy get into bed and reveal to her husband that she thought she was pregnant.
However, it was a false alarm and they both agreed that it would’ve been crazy.
Yet, they also added it would have been “kinda cool.”
And so, the couple decides to start trying for a baby.

This makes sense because Melissa is pregnant and it would be showing whilst filming Season 7.
She had filmed the show pregnant before, but what they did was have her character be behind a desk for the entire season.
Yet, they did then write it into the show by having her pose as a pregnant woman and go undercover into a women’s prison.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s creator, Dan Goor recently opened up to TV Line about Season 7’s pregnancy storyline.
“I had a lot of internal debate about whether I wanted to do this storyline,” series co-creator Dan Goor said.
“I don’t want it to seem like the show is coming down on the side that the only way in which a couple can be happy is to have kids, so I didn’t want to make it seem like there’s this inevitability to them having kids.”
Goor also spoke about how the “Peraltiago” baby storyline could end up changing the series’ DNA.
“It’s a workplace comedy, and kids aren’t usually a part of the workplace,” he said.
“I’m also aware of the fact that most shows make their characters have kids because there are only so many stories to tell.”
He then revealed that the decision to have them be pregnant had nothing to do with actress Melissa Fumero’s real-life pregnancy.

“We had completely broken [Amy]’s storyline before she told us that she was pregnant, so it in no way informed what we ended up doing.”
He then continued: “The thing that actually convinced me that it would be a worthwhile storyline was talking to Melissa about Amy both trying to have kids and having kids.”
“We have a very strong female character who loves her job, and… having a kid and trying to have a kid are things that women in the workforce deal with. There are conflicts that arise out of that, and there are difficulties and obstacles, all of which provide for good stories. It was really talking to Melissa that made me think, ‘This is a worthwhile thing to do.'”
