It’s been revealed that Brie Larson has signed on to star in an upcoming James Bond-like thriller movie for Netflix, which sounds very interesting to me. This comes after it was revealed that Larson is also in talks with Disney to star in an Indiana Jones-like movie for them.
That caused a bit of a stir, especially on our Facebook page, with people pointing out that a female version of Indiana Jones is just Tomb Raider, which is very true. However, that franchise is with Amazon now after they acquired MGM Studios, and they are developing a movie and a series based on the franchise. The series is going to involve Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
Anyway, it seems as though Larson is going to be involved in a bunch of other action movie projects after The Marvels is released. She’s going to be a huge part of the MCU, in which she plays Captain Marvel. However, it looks like she wants to do a lot of action movies and really become a staple of the genre, a bit like a female Keany Reeves, and I’m all for it.

So, according to Giant Freakin Robot, Larson has agreed to star in a new CIA thriller which will be called The Agent for Netflix, and she may direct the movie, which sounds like an interesting idea. I actually feel as though Larson would be a perfect fit for that project.
Here’s what Giant Freakin Robot had to say about this upcoming Netflix project which is reportedly going to star and be directed by Brie Larson:
The Agent will star Brie Larson as a high-level CIA agent who is tasked with a dangerous mission to take down an international criminal organization.
Honestly, I think this would be a very good project for Netflix to develop because there’s a bit of a gap in the market at the moment, especially since the Bond movies are kind of on hiatus until they cast a new actor for the role after Daniel Craig’s era as 007 came to an end.

It does seem as though the streamer is trying to make as many spy-thrillers as they can. They made the Russo Brothers’ action spy thriller, The Gray Man, last year. The film starred Ryan Gosling as the eponymous CIA assassin, Chris Evans as his sociopathic, moustachioed nemesis, and Ana de Armas.
That movie cost Netflix about $200 million to make, and it ended up being one of the most expensive movies the streamer has ever produced. They also released the hugely popular series, The Night Agent, which is another spy-thriller project and that show has been watched by millions of people worldwide.
It actually just been announced that Netflix has given The Night Agent Season 2 the green light, which is great news because I, and many other people, love that series.
There’s still no release date for this Brie Larson James Bond-like spy-thriller for Netflix. We will be keeping an eye on this project and will give you more information as soon as it’s available.
