It’s being reported that former Disney CEO, Bob Chapek might have been fired because he reportedly used deceptive accounting to hide how much money the company has lost while developing its streaming platform, Disney Plus. This news comes to us via Bounding Into Comics, and I am not sure how accurate this report is. However, I will say that I have been hearing grumblings suggesting something sinister was going on at the very heart of the House Of Mouse.
I did state that this report comes to us via Bounding Into Comics. However, they’re actually going off what The Wall Street Journal reported. According to their insiders Disney has “lost more than $8.5 billion since Disney+ launched and has posted bigger operating losses in each of the post-four quarters.” Furthermore, in order to keep the warning signals from blaring, Chapek allegedly took to airing some Disney Plus originals, such as The Mysterious Benedict Society and Doogie Kameāloha, M.D, on the company’s other networks.
Did Disney fire Bob Chapek because he lied?

So, what did this little trick do? Well, according to Bounding Into Comics, Chapek could then list a given series’ budget on the respective network’s accounting sheets, thus making Disney Plus look more profitable than it truly was. This is pretty bad and could actually be the main reason why Disney wanted to get rid of him as CEO so quickly. They certainly didn’t take very long to get rid of Chapek and bring back their former CEO, Bob Iger.
“The board has concluded that as Disney embarks on an increasingly complex period of industry transformation, Bob Iger is uniquely situated to lead the company through this pivotal period,” explained the board’s chairman, Susan Arnold, in a statement provided to the media. “We thank Bob Chapek for his service to Disney over his long career, including navigating the company through the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic.”
Bob Iger might be trying to sell Disney to Apple

Since Iger’s been brought in, there have been rumours that Disney might be looking to sell the company to Apple. This comes after there were rumours that Apple might be looking to buy a really big company, and Disney could be that company. They have a lot of franchises and IPs that would be of huge interest to Apple. The likes of Marvel Studios, Star Wars, Pixar, Disney’s own animated movies, Indiana Jones and all of the 20th Century Studios franchises Disney also now owns following their acquisition of the studio… These franchises are huge and would be a big pull for Apple.
There’s also the fact that Disney’s streaming platform has proven to be very successful. They have far more subscribers than Apple TV Plus. Disney also owns Hulu and ESPN, which would also greatly interest Apple. Another big pull would be Bob Iger himself. He’s a very respected man, not only in Hollywood, but also in the business world.
