Blue Beetle Movie Coming To Cinemas Before HBO Max Release

It’s been revealed to us that the Blue Beetle movie will have a release in cinemas before turning up on HBO Max, which we think is terrific news.

The Blue Beetle film was originally intended to be an HBO Max exclusive release.

However, it seems as though Warner Bros. Pictures has opted to release the movie in cinemas worldwide first.

This comes after the studio got a lot of flack for having released all their 2021 blockbusters on HBO Max and in cinemas on the same day.

Filmmakers hated the decision and they made their displeasure with the movie studio very public.

The likes of Denis Villeneuve and Christopher Nolan criticised Warner Bros. Pictures publicly.

Villeneuve wrote an article in Variety in which he blasted Warner Bros for their decision.

It seems as though they might have heard the voices of descent, and they’re now looking at changing their movie release strategy moving forward.

Anyway, back to Blue Beetle being released theatrically before coming to HBO Max.

An insider told us that the movie is now coming out in cinemas first worldwide before being made available for an HBO Max release.

“Warners has altered their release strategy for Blue Beetle. It’ll be released theatrically first, then released on HBO Max at a later date,” the insider said.

I can only see this as being good news because Blue Beetle could prove to be a very important movie for Warners and DC Films.

The film is going to star Cobra Kai’s Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes, a.k.a. Blue Beetle.

Blue Beetle will be directed by Angel Manuel Soto and at the moment is slated for release on August 18th, 2023.
