There was going to be a Black Panther spinoff series, and it seems as though this show is still on the card over at Marvel Studios. However, there’s been a rather disappointing update about it. This show was going to focus on Danai Gurira’s Dora Milaje leader Okoye, and it was going to detail her origin story. I was excited to see what Marvel could do with this series. However, it seems as though we’ll have to wait some time before we get to see the series on Disney Plus.
It’s been interesting to see how the MCU has developed over the past few years. These new Disney Plus shows have allowed the MCU to expand in new and interesting ways. We’ve seen the likes of WandaVision, Loki and most recently She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, and the recent TV special, Werewolf By Night really explore new and interesting areas of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Well, another one of these new Disney Plus shows was reportedly going to be a Black Panther spinoff series with Ryan Coogler at the helm. According to multiple reports, this new series would explore the Kingdom of Wakanda and its people even further than the films already have done. It’s been revealed that this series is still being developed, but it’ll take a while before we get to watch it on Disney Plus.

During an interview with Collider, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever producer Nate Moore offered an update on the development of Ryan Coogler’s Wakanda spin-off series for Disney Plus which was first revealed in February 2021.
The Marvel Studios producer was pretty down on the project, and revealed that work on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and the upcoming Ironheart series has meant that the Black Panther spinoff series is “not as far along as people want it to be,” although there are some “great ideas”. Here’s what he had to say about the project:
Because of the amount of time and attention that went into this film, and frankly the Ironheart show, that is probably not as far along as people want it to be, but there are certainly great ideas that we’re still talking to Ryan about. So, we’ll see how far we can get with it.

More also offered us an update on the Ironheart Disney Plus series, which Coogler is a producer on. Moore revealed that production will conclude on the Disney Plus series any day now. Here’s what he had to say on the matter:
It’s nearly complete. I think they might be on their second to last day, if I’m not mistaken.
The Ironheart series is slated to be released on Disney Plus in 2023. We still don’t have an official release date for the series yet. However, we’ve been informed that the series is supposed to be released in the “fall of 2023”. So, it shouldn’t be too long before we get to watch the series on Disney’s streaming platform.
As for Wakanda Forever, the movie is going to be released in cinemas in the United States and the United Kingdom on November 11th.
