It’s been revealed by James Gunn that Ben Affleck is in talks to direct a movie for DC Studios, which would be an interesting move for them to make. There have been so many rumours about Affleck’s future in the DC Universe.
A lot of fans have been calling for the actor/filmmaker to return as Batman to the DCU. We know that he’s going to be in the upcoming Flash movie.
However, it was looking like that would be it for Batfleck. That said, there were then reports that the actor would be returning as Bruce Wayne in Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom.
This was revealed by the movie’s star, Jason Momoa, and fans were hopeful that we might get to see Batfleck back in his own movie. However, there was another twist in the tale.

Here’s what James Gunn had to say about Ben Affleck possibly directing a movie for DC Studios in the future (via SlashFilm):
And we’re working with Ben Affleck, who really wants to be [and] has been a part of our architectural team trying to bring things together, and he really wants to direct one of our projects. We’re excited for him doing that. But this is the story of Damian Wayne, who is Batman’s actual son, who he didn’t know existed for the first eight to 10 years of his life.
Gunn and Safran revealed a new feature film called The Brave and the Bold. This will be a Batman-led project that will see the vigilante team up with his biological child, Damian Wayne.
The characters in the film will be unique to the DCU, completely separate from Matt Reeves’ The Batman franchise and negating any previous casting.
This means that the likes of Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton won’t be part of the DCU moving forward. However, it does have to be said that Gunn and Safran made no comment about whether Keaton will be returning as his version of Batman.
They didn’t announce who will be playing Batman in this new DCU movie. They also didn’t announce a director for the movie, but it looks like Affleck won’t be directing it.
So, it sounds as though Affleck could have a hand in creating the new DCU. That said, it’s being reported that he won’t return to Gotham either in front of or behind the screen.
Which DC movie could he direct?

There are a bunch of other projects that Affleck could be involved with. Gunn announced a bunch of DCU projects the other day. He announced the likes of Superman: Legacy, The Brave and The Bold, Swamp Thing, The Authority and Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow.
However, he also announced a load of new DC shows, such as Creative Commandos, Lanterns, Paradise Lost, Booster Gold and a Waller series.
He would be a good shout for another of those projects, but something tells me that he might end up directing something after Chapter 1: Gods And Monsters.
