Robert Pattinson having been cast as Batman in Matt Reeves’ Batman film has gone some fans rather riled up, but they really shouldn’t be.
It was revealed on Friday that it’s looking like Warner Bros. is going to cast British actor Robert Pattinson as Batman in Matt Reeves’ upcoming DC Comics movie.
This is something which I got very excited about because I think that Robert Pattinson is one of the most interesting actors working in Hollywood today.
After having played Edward in the Twilight franchise, he’s gone on to show what a genuine talent he is, yet so-called fans of the DCEU just can’t seem the fact that he was Edward out of their heads.
One fan took it so badly (a Mr. Roden) that he started a petition on Change.org pleading Warner Bros. not to cast him in the role.
The petition is titled: “Warner Brothers, don’t do it! Don’t cast Robert Pattinson as Batman?”
The petition then read: “Don’t make the Batfleck mistake again. Don’t do it. For the love of all that is holy, stop trashing the DC Universe.”
At the moment the petition has got over 4,000 signatures, which to be honest is expected.
It’s already been getting quite a lot of traction online, which many outlets (including this one) writing about it. However, there has also been a lot of support of Pattinson as Batman.
Warner Brothers, don’t do it!
I myself wrote a piece on how he’s the perfect actor for the job and I’ll stand by that statement up until I sit down in front of the movie, and then hopefully I’ll be screaming, “See! I told you so!” at the top of my lungs upon exiting the theatre.
Whatever happens, people shouldn’t get so upset about these things. The bottom line is that it’s only a movie, and there are far more important things that are going on which we should actually be getting riled up about. Global warming is one of the first things that comes to mind.
Anyway, The Batman, or whatever it’ll be called, is scheduled for release on June 25th, 2021, but that could change in time.
What do you think of Robert Pattinson being cast as Batman, and have you signed the petition? I truly hope you haven’t!
