An actor who was going to be in the now-cancelled Batgirl movie has called Warner Bros Discovery CEO, David Zaslav, an “imbecile” for scrapping their DC Comics movie. She did this in a comment that was posted on IndieWire’s website.
I have to say that tensions are running very high in Hollywood after Warner Bros Discovery’s rather historic decision to cancel a pretty big-budget movie after it had been shot. They revealed that they cancelled it because they wanted to focus on delivering quality content, and they felt that the Batgirl movie just wasn’t hitting the mark for them.
They did this after just one screening, and the movie was early on in post-production. The film’s directors, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah were at Adil’s wedding when they heard the news of their movie being cancelled by the new bosses.
Honestly, you really couldn’t make this stuff up. And the movie’s lead, Leslie Grace, was going to be the first lantina actress to lead a comic book superhero movie. She was going to be joined by the likes of J. K. Simmons, Jacob Scipio, Brendan Fraser, and Michael Keaton.

Yep, this Batgirl movie was going to see Michael Keaton return as Batman and Brendan Fraser was going to be playing Firefly in the film! We were also going to get to see J.K. Simmons return as Comissioner Gordon!
I was very upset to hear of the film’s cancellation. So was this actor who was going to be in the movie. The actor wished to remain annoymous, but here’s what they had to say about the Batgirl film being cancelled by Warner Bros Discovery:
I am very offended by what happened and feel terrible for the directors and Leslie Grace, who were all wonderful to work with, as well as all of the technicians. It was an enormous, rewarding challenge to make this movie during Covid, and during the cold weather in Glasgow. None of these things matter to an imbecile like [Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav]. His cowardice is breathtaking. I am glad I got to participate and I wish the best for all those involved — except the suits at Warner Brothers. But they all get replaced sooner than later.

The bits that stick out to be are when the actor says they are “very offerended” by the decision. They then went on to call David Zaslav an “imbecile”. The actor also called him a coward. They then hoped that the Warner Bros executives would all end up being replaced “sooner than later”.
Pretty strong and powerful words from someone that was in the movie. I understand how hurt they must feel and I do side with them in this instance.
It’s hard not to think that Zaslav and Warner Bros Discovery’s decision to scrap the film (as a tax right off no less), is shamefull. I think will prove to be the wrong decision to take.
