Ant-Man 3 Almost Had Hank Pym In His OG Ant-Man Suit

It’s been revealed that Ant-Man 3 (Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania) would feature Hank Pym in his original Ant-Man suit. However, according to recent reports, Marvel Studios changed the scene from the movie.

There have been rumours that Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania might feature a whole bunch of Ant-Men, which was true. However, one thing was reportedly going to happen in the movie, but after watching it, I’m upset to say that it didn’t happen.

The thing I’m referring to here is that there were rumours that he might get to see the 1960s/70s Ant-Man in the movie, and apparently, it was going to happen. However, Marvel Studios decided not to bring Hank Pym’s Ant-Man into the film. Let’s get into the weeds of what happened and why that particular scene might not be in the movie.

Why did Marvel cut Hank Pym in the original Ant-Man suit in Ant-Man 3?

So, according to The Cosmic Circle podcast, there was an idea to have Hank Pym show up in his original Ant-Man costume. Before I go any further into this story, I must warn you that SPOILERS are coming up for Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania.

Here’s what The Cosmic Circle podcast’s co-host Alex Perez had to say on the matter and what was going to happen in the movie regarding Hank Pym’s Ant-Man costume:

In the scene when.. the ants are like attacking the citadel… and all a sudden you see Hank walking down….. In the original… Hank was in his Ant-Man suit… and we were gonna see the original Ant-Man there on the fullest of screens…

Michael Douglas plays Pym in the movie and is excellent in the role. It seems as though they would have his Hank Pym turn up in his original Ant-Man costume in the movie’s final third.

This would have been when the giant ants turned up and took the fight directly to Jonathan Majors’ Kang. I actually think it would have been brilliant to get to see all the members of the Ant-Man family all suited and booted.

However, I wonder whether Marvel Studios might be looking to save that for a future movie. I feel that Avengers: The Kang Dynasty might also heavily feature the Ant-Man family.

Moreover, The Cosmic Circus’ Perez then went on to tease that the Langs will have an important role to play in the upcoming stories involving Kang the Conqueror and that someone might not make it out alive. Here’s what he had to say on the matter:

In terms of how the Multiverse Saga is going to play out, one of the key figures, that is going to have a storyline that is going to be important in Kang Dynasty, is the Langs and the Pym Van Dynes. Specifically, Janet Van Dyne.

Because I can assure you that every single version of Kang is particularly pissed with Scott, they’re particularly pissed with all of these people, but most of all the person that they’re going to be pissed off the most is at Janet Van Dyne…

And I’m going to spoil it right here, screw it, I’ll spoil it right here. I have no idea if it’s going to play out yet as it is extremely early but I would not be surprised if Janet Van Dyne is killed in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
