Andy Serkis Says That We Might See More Of Snoke In A Star Wars Prequel

Andy Serkis revealed during an interview that his Star Wars character, Supreme Leader Snoke, might get some more screen time in a potential Star Wars prequel… or whatever…

WARNING: SPOILERS for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Andy Serkis’ Supreme Leader Snoke was a character shrouded in mystery that fans were just desperate to learn more about, and then just when they thought they were going to be privy to some of his backstory in Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, he was swiftly sliced in two. Many people were left feeling disappointed by this; however, after having watched The Last Jedi on multiple occasions, I think that it was an incredibly bold and brave decision.

This new Star Wars saga is not about Snoke and having pages of backstory dialogue like there were in the prequel movies. Johnson’s film was about building new foundations upon which the future Star Wars movies can stand alone, without having the deal with the hefty weight of the past.

That said, Andy Serkis’ Snoke was an interesting character. Where did he come from? How come he was so powerful in the Force? How did he know all that he knew…? These are fascinating questions, and I would love to have them answered in a novel or comic book series. However, during an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor revealed that there might be a possibility of seeing Snoker again in a prequel movie.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi's Andy Serkis Dishes More Details On Supreme Leader Snoke

“We wanted him to have a great deal of mystery […] JJ [Abrams] and I discussed it, and Rian [Johnson] and I did discuss backstories to him, where he came from,” Serkis told EW. “I’ve been asked to not shed anything, should we want to bring him back in any way whether [in a] prequel or whatever.”

That said, Serkis made it abundantly clear that he hasn’t been approached about this. “I’m not in discussions with anybody at all about it,” he clarified.

He continued: “Yeah, I would love to think that there is room for him to come back. I think anything’s possible in a Star Wars movie. I’d be all up for it. I think there’s a lot more to be had from the character for sure, but I’m not in discussions with anybody at all about it.”

“I think there’s something cool about that. It still does remain a mystery for people. I know that some people find it incredibly frustrating, but I think it allows for further exploration and layering at a further point.”
