Andrew Lincoln played Rick Grimes on The Walking Dead for years, and he revealed about a year back now that he was going to be leaving the show. Well, he’s since joked that it was a terrible idea to leave the show during a recent interview with Digital Spy.
Rick Grimes was the show’s lead since the very beginning, and seeing Andrew Lincoln leave the show wasn’t easy. It was actually really quite hard. However, they did leave the door open for him to return to the role.
It was then revealed that Andrew Lincoln would be returning to play Rick Grimes in a new movie trilogy set in The Walking Dead universe. However, I’m not so sure how far along in development that project is.

Here’s what Andrew Lincoln said during a recent interview with Digital Spy about leaving AMC’s hit TV show:
I came back home for the kids, and now they’re sick of me, and I wish I’d never left. It’s bullshit! It was a terrible decision!
He then went on to get serious and added the following:
I didn’t know what the South [of the USA] was. I’d never been to the South. And then I went to Georgia, and I fell in love with this extraordinary city, Atlanta. Living and working in the South was extraordinary. There’s a sort of English attitude about the South – they’re sort of quite patronizing at dinner parties. I said, ‘This the most advanced, civilized, extraordinarily progressive place I’ve ever been in my life’, and that was 12 years ago.
