An Animated Spider-Woman Movie Is In The Works

As audiences around the globe flock to theatres to catch the long-awaited Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, producers Amy Pascal and Avi Arad are already turning their attention towards future web-slinging projects, such as an animated Spider-Woman movie!

“We’ve got our sights set on the third instalment in the trilogy, Beyond the Spider-Verse, set to come out next year,” said Pascal during an interview with Variety. “However, there’s much more in the pipeline that’s sure to excite fans of the franchise.”

The Rise of Spider-Woman

One of the most eagerly anticipated projects is a standalone animated Spider-Woman film. Pascal confirmed that this project is indeed in the works, much to the delight of Spider-Man fans worldwide. “You’ll see all of it,” she proclaimed during the premiere of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in Los Angeles. “It’s all happening”.

Producer Avi Arad added some intrigue to the announcement, teasing that the Spider-Woman movie might hit the screens “sooner than you expect”. However, he remained coy about the details, stating, “I cannot tell you yet, but it’s coming”.

Spider-Man Continues to Swing

Besides Spider-Woman, another project that’s been gaining a lot of buzz is the live-action Miles Morales movie. Morales has been a fan favourite since his introduction in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and the news of his standalone live-action movie has created much excitement among fans.

On top of these exciting projects, Pascal also confirmed the fourth Spider-Manmovie with Tom Holland and Zendaya is still in the works. However, the writers’ strike has temporarily halted its development. “Are we going to make another movie? Of course, we are,” she said. “We’re in the process, but the writers strike, nobody is working during the strike. We’re all being supporters and whenever they get themselves together, we’ll get started”.

Sony’s Future Outlook

Sony’s chief, Tom Rothman, while enthusiastic about the upcoming projects, remained cagey about further developments. With a laugh, he stated, “If I told you, I’d have to kill you”. This statement has only added fuel to the fire of speculations about the future trajectory of the Spider-Man franchise.

The Spider-Verse Cast

The second instalment in the trilogy, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, sees the return of Shameik Moore as Miles Morales and Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy. And it’s a dream to be in a space that feels so comfortable but also creative and free and just exciting to be a part of”. Steinfeld’s delight in playing Gwen Stacy has surely created more anticipation for the upcoming Spider-Woman movie.
