It’s been revealed that Amber Heard is suing her insurance company after they sued the Aquaman actress following her losing the Johnny Depp defamation case. This news comes to us via TMZ and it has to be said that this is a pretty bog move on Heard’s behalf.
So, according to TMZ’s report, Heard is claiming that her million-dollar insurance policy does have to cover her in the Johnny Depp trial and verdict. They added that the actress is now asking a judge to confirm this to be the case, which means that if her counterclaim is successful, the insurance company could end up paying Depp the money he’s owed after the trail verdict, which is around $15 million in total.

It’s been revealed that the Aquaman actress has countersued New York Marine and General Insurance. This comes after they sued Heard claiming that they need to be let off the hook for the $1 million liability policy that Amber had taken out to protect her from defamation claims. That’s a pretty bad policy for an insurance company to have, especially if Heard is their client.
Honestly, it seems to me as though the insurance company will have to pay Depp the money he’s owed after the defamation trial was concluded. However, the insurance company is claiming that the fact the jury found Amber’s committed wilful misconduct in her defamation of Johnny. According to them, California law gives the company an out in having to fulfil the policy. In other words, they believe they’re not responsible and don’t want to pay.

In new court docs, which were somehow obtained by TMZ, Amber is arguing that the opposite is actually the case. She’s claiming that New York Marine promised to pay her defence costs and judgments against her up to a million dollars, no matter what. This is apparently the “unconditional deal” that she claims they struck with her when she took out the insurance with them. She’s now saying that the company is refusing to live up to their end of the bargain.
Heard is also saying that the insurance company is attempting to wipe their hands clean of her and now they are turning their back on the agreement they signed with her. This means that, according to Heard’s counterclaim, the insurance company is in breach of their contract with the actress.
So, all of this to say that Amber Heard is fighting back and trying to get the insurance company to pay the money she was ordered to pay Depp. To be honest, as long as Johnny Depp gets the money he was awarded, it doesn’t matter what happens between Heard and her insurance company.
