This whole Amber Heard vs. Johnny Depp story’s been going on for quite some time now. It’s really starting to look like Amber Heard’s time as Mera in Aquaman 2 might be up.
It all started with Amber Heard claiming Johnny Depp had abused her verbally, mentally and physically.
However, Depp’s rebuffed those claims and has taken Heard to court.
He’s claiming that he was the one who was domestically abused by Heard.
New court documents tell a very different story to what Heard claimed had happened whilst they were married.
Depp details how Amber Heard and a friend of hers defecated on his bed in their penthouse.
He then recalled a time when she hit him for being late to a party, even though he had told Heard that he was going to be late because of an important meeting.
There have also been phone calls between the two leaked and they really don’t paint a good picture for Heard.

As I’ve mentioned before, I can’t really comment on the court case because it is currently ongoing.
However, what I can say is that popular opinion is definitely not in Amber Heard’s favour.
It got to the point where a petition on Change.org was started claiming that Amber Heard should be removed as Mera in Aquaman 2.
Now, there are so many petitions on Change.org and most of them go nowhere.
People love making these petitions, however, this one is really gaining in traction and signatures.
It’s now got over 350,000 signatures and it really is something Warner Bros. Pictures can no longer ignore.
First off, this whole debacle has already cost Johnny Depp’s job playing Captain Jack Sparrow in the sixth Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
They’re now talking of doing a prequel and casting another actor in the role.
Honestly, I can’t say I’m the biggest Pirates fan in the world, but it would be pretty dire without Depp in the franchise as Jack Sparrow.
Amber Heard is pretty replaceable as Mera in Aquaman 2

He was the best thing about those movies. The same can’t really be said of Amber Heard as Mera.
To put it frankly, she is totally and utterly replaceable.
They don’t even need the character to be in the next movie.
Therefore, it seems like a relatively easy decision for Warner Bros. Pictures to take.
They couple simply say they want to put things on hold between themselves and Heard until the court case is over and things are clearer.
The reaction should Heard be in Aquaman 2 might be very negative, and that’s not really what Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Comics want right now.
As for who could come in a replace Heard as Mera, there are myriad actresses who could fill the role perfectly

Here’s a list of some of the actresses I thought would make a good Mera:
- Emila Clarke
- Sophie Turner
- Deborah Ann Woll
- Karen Gillan
- Bridget Regan
- Madelaine Petsch
- Alicia Vikander
These are just a few possible actresses who could take the role of Mera on.
I think they’d all do a great job, but it seems as though fans are already pretty excited of seeing Emilia Clarke play the role.
If she were to take on the role, then she would be reunited with her Game of Thrones co-star, Jason Momoa.
Perhaps the best option for Warner Bros. Pictures would be to put the whole movie on hold until things are worked out.
That would be the most diplomatic thing to do because the Amber Heard vs. Johnny Depp court battle is very much a case of ‘he-said-she-said’ at this point in time.
The only solid evidence we have are the leaked phone calls between the two and those could easily be misconstrued.
It’s not like Aquaman 2 is happening any time soon.

As for yet, it has been announced, but there’s no solid release date.
They’re tentatively put1 6 December 2022 as the film’s release date, but that could easily be moved.
Warner Bros. Pictures hasn’t announced the film’s cast yet, so we’ll just have to wait and see what will happen.
