It’s been revealed that an Alien reboot is in the works over at 20th Century Studios and Scott Free Productions, and they might have found their new star! According to Deadline, it’s being reported that the Pacific Rim star, Cailee Spaeny, has been in talks to star in the movie, which, I think, would be a very good choice.
It really seems as though ever since Disney purchased 20th Century Fox, we’ve been seeing many of the studio’s long-running franchises be brought back from the dead. We saw a new Predator movie in the incredible 2022 film, Prey. That film might end up going down as my favourite movie of this year. We’ve also seen Disney bring the Alien franchise back. It’s already been revealed that a new Alien series is in the works for Hulu.
That series is being made under Noah Hawley’s leadership, and I have a feeling that it’s going to really blow us away. We’re now hearing the 20th Century Studios – which is what 20th Century Fox is now called after the Disney acquisition – is also working on a new Alien movie. I have a feeling that this film might also be released straight to streaming, just like Prey was. However, that hasn’t been officially announced yet.

So, if you’re an Alien fan – like me – then you have a lot to look forward to. Not only do you have this reboot movie, but you’ve also got an Alien series coming to Hulu. I have a feeling that the series will end up winning a bunch of Emmys. It’s just something about Noah Hawley. He always makes terrific shows.
Moreover, with Prey it seems as though the people involved in these new horror 20th Century Studios movies really know what they are going. That film was incredible, and if they get someone just as talented as Dan Trachtenberg to make this Alien reboot, I think we’re in for a treat.

Well, I actually have some news to share with you on that front. It was revealed not too long ago that the movie is going to be directed by Fede Alvarez. He’s really something special. Alvarez made the first Don’t Breathe movie, which I thought was incredible. He also made a reboot of The Evil Dead, which I really enjoyed.
So, I think that the Alien franchise and this reboot is in very safe hands. It seems as though 20th Century Studios and its new overlords, Disney, are being very careful with the Alien and Predator franchises, and I am really happy to see that. They are both brilliant franchises and have been in desperate need of some serious TLC.
It’s also been revealed that this movie is a top priority over at 20th Century Fox and Scott Free after they heard Alvarez’s pitch. The studios then received a script which really excited them and the production has been put in the fast lane. It’s been reported that the film will star shooting in early 2023.
