It’s being reported that Aaron Taylor-Johnson is now the front-runner for James Bond, having reportedly done a secret audition for the role at Pinewood Studios in London. Now, this sounds brilliant to me. However, we do have to factor in that this report comes to us via The Sun, and their track record with these sorts of ‘scoops’ has been a little bit patchy.
That said, the idea of Aaron Tayl0r-Johnson playing Bond is one that I, and I believe many fans of the franchise, love. Aaron Taylor-Johnson is a terrific actor, and he’s shown that time and time again. He’s got the right look, the right physique, the right accent, and he’s also the right age to play the role. He’s 32 years old, and it’s been revealed that the Bond producers, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, are looking for someone in their thirties to play the role.

So, according to The Sun, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is now one of the front-runners for the role after doing what they describe as a “top-secret screen test”. According to the outlet’s sources, the British actor really impressed Broccoli with his audition which reportedly took place at Pinewood Studios.
Moreover, one of their insiders is reported to have said, “Aaron went for a screen test to be the next Bond in September and producers and Barbara loved him. He is now one of the front-runners.”
Taylor-Johnson is an actor who will be known to many people already after having starred in movies such as Godzilla, Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Bullet Train and Kick-Ass. Kick-Ass was his breakout role, and that movie really put the actor on the map. Since then, he’s impressed in basically every movie he’s ever been in.

However, the movie in which he impressed me the most was Nocturnal Animals. I thought he was brilliant in that movie and played a truly horrible character. However, the thing that will undoubtedly attract the James Bond movie producers to Taylor-Johnson is the fact that he can do drama and action. The actor has displayed an ability to excel in both genres and he always delivers and excellent performance, no matter which film he’s in. He’s effortless on camera and has a really commanding screen presence. He’s the calibre of actor that should be considered for the role.
Now, there are other names out there, such as Henry Cavill, Tom Hardy, Idris Elba and most recently, Dan Stevens. They would all work in the role, maybe apart from Elba who’s unfortunately aged out of the role now. However, I feel like Taylor-Johnson would work better than any of the other names I’ve seen mentioned for the role. I’m sure that he’ll be at the top of the bookies’ lists after this news.
