Warner Bros. is Looking at Matthew Vaughn to Direct Man of Steel 2

Warner Bros. is reportedly touting Kingsman: The Secret Services’ director, Matthew Vaughn, to direct the sequel to Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, which may or may not be called Man of Steel 2.

After Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad, the DCEU’s been in a bit of a fragile state recently, but Warner Bros. is looking to change things by bringing in some really talented directors to head up their upcoming films. We’ve already heard rumours that they’ve met with Mel Gibson – who’s back in Hollywood’s good books after his latest film, Hacksaw Ridge, received rave reviews – to direct Suicide Squad 2.

We’re now hearing reports, via Collider, that Warner Bros. is interested in getting Matthew Vaughn to helm Man of Steel 2, which pretty much puts a nail in Zack Snyder’s coffin. Vaughn has already proved himself to be very apt when it comes to the comic book genre, having directed such hits, both critically and commercially, as Kick Ass, X-Men: First Class, and most recently, Kingsman: The Secret Service. It’s no wonder that Warner Bros. and DC want to bring him into the DCEU fold.

Matthew Vaughn could direct Man of Steel 2

Matthew Vaughn could direct Man of Steel 2

There were reports that in 2010 Matthew Vaughn and the creator of Kick Ass, Mark Millar, had pitched their idea for a Superman film to Warner Bros., yet they opted to go with Nolan and Goyer’s version instead (rather unsparingly after their success with The Dark Knight trilogy). However, this could mean that Warner Bros. are now having second thoughts, and have remembered how promising Vaughn and Millar’s idea for a Superman movie was.

In conclusion, it looks like Warner Bros. wants a kick ass director for Man of Steel 2 (if you’ll pardon the pun)! But who do you think should direct Man of Steel 2? Give us your picks in the comments below. Personally we love the idea of seeing Matthew Vaughn take on Superman, however, there are other directors who are just as capable.
