Thor: Ragnarok’s director, Taika Waititi, has revealed that he would love to come back to direct a fourth Thor movie.
Taika Waititi has made something truly remarkable with Thor: Ragnarok. Before now the Thor movies were considered to be some of Marvel’s weakest movies, but now with Ragnarok, the franchise has been rejuvenated, and most of that is down to Waititi’s vision. He wanted to make a Thor movie that was unlike any other, and so did Chris Hemsworth who has since revealed that before Waititi joined the project he wanted to stop playing the superhero unless they did something radically different with this movie.
In an interview with RadioTimes.com, Taika Waititi revealed that he would love to work with Marvel again. “I would like to come back and work with Marvel any time, because I think they’re a fantastic studio, and we had a great time working together,” Waititi revealed. “And they were very supportive of me, and my vision.” He continued: “They kind of gave me a lot of free reign, but also had a lot of ideas as well. A very collaborative company.”
He went on to reveal that he would love to come back and direct another Thor movie. “I’d love to do another Thor film, because I feel like I’ve established a really great thing with these guys, and friendship. (…) And I don’t really like any of the other characters.” This is fabulous news since Waititi really seems to understand the character and judging by the film’s critical response (and our very own review of Thor: Ragnarok), he’s made something very special.
