Alden Ehrenreich’s Han Solo and Chewbacca get to know one another in the new TV spot for the Star Wars spin-off movie, Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Han Solo and Chewie’s friendship is one of the pillars that holds the Star Wars franchise together. OK, that’s maybe stretching it slightly, but it’s true that it played a big part in the original trilogy and was very much present in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Personally, I have wondered a few times how they became such good friends, and it looks like Solo: A Star Wars Story is going to answer that question for me. I’ve heard some talk of Chewie owing a life debt to Han which is why they’re always together, but I do hope that there’s more to their friendship than just that.
We now have a new TV spot for the upcoming Solo movie which highlights Han and Chewie’s complicated relationship. I’m not sure how much Ron Howard’s film will focus on this aspect of Han’s origins story, but it’ll undoubtedly play some part in the movie. We’ve already learned from a previous trailer that Chewie is 190 years old in the film, which took me slightly by surprise. He doesn’t look a day over 100!
Solo: A Star Wars Story will be coming to UK cinemas on May 24th, which is a whole day before it comes out in the US (no spoilers people of the United Kingdom, please), and its world premiere will be held at the Cannes Film Festival on the 12th of May which is very exciting news. Fingers crossed that Ron Howard has directed the Han Solo spin-off movie we were all hoping to see. Judging by the trailers, it’s going to be a lot of fun.
