Ron Howard took to Twitter to reveal that his upcoming Han Solo spin-off movie has an official title, Solo: A Star Wars Story. Check out his tweet below.
The production on the Han Solo spin-off movie has not been plain sailing. It’s been a bit of a nightmare, to be honest. Firstly, the original directors hired to helm the project, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, left the movie due to ‘creative differences’ with Lucasfilm boss, Kathleen Kennedy. They then turned to the experienced Ron Howard to help steady the ship.
Before Howard took on the project there were reports that Alden Ehrenreich, who’ll be playing the young Han Solo in the movie, was not happy with the amount of improv they were doing on set. That’s all now in the past, and Ron Howard took to Twitter to inform fans that they were wrapping up on shooting the movie, and he had a little extra surprise for his 2+ million fans on the social media network. Check out his post below.

That’s right, the new Han Solo spin-off movie will be called Solo: A Star Wars Story. Simple, yet highly effective in my opinion. The previous Star Wars spin-off movie was officially called Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, so it seems as if Lucasfilm wants these standalone pictures to be known as the ‘Star Wars Story’ movies and to be set aside from the main Star Wars saga.
Solo: A Star Wars Story will also star Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Woody Harrelson asBeckett, Han’s mentor, Emilia Clarke as Kira, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Joonas Suotamo, who’ll be playing Chewbacca, a role originally played by Peter Mayhew.
The film is still set to be released in cinemas on May 25th, 2018, yet I wouldn’t be surprised to see that be pushed back to December 2018.
