Netflix revealed that Lucifer will be renewed for a fifth and final season, but fans of the show aren’t best pleased that the show is ending very soon and want answers.
It was announced last week that Lucifer would be ending after season 5, just one year after it was saved by Netflix.
The show was originally aired on FOX, and then it was rather abruptly cancelled by the network.
Yet, fans then took to the Internet (Twitter mostly) and demanded that the show be saved since many people felt it had been cancelled prematurely.
This was when Netflix swooped in to save the day and the show. Lucifer, which stars British actor Tom Ellis as the lead, then got 10 extra episodes for season four.
Fans seemed to be quite happy with the show’s new home, but Netflix then announced that they were renewing the show for a fifth season, but that it would be the show’s last.
It all seemed to be very amicable, with the show’s executive producers revealing that it gave them time to finish the story they wanted to tell.
“We’re thrilled that Lucifer fans around the world have embraced this series on Netflix, and we can’t wait to give them the big finish they’ve all been waiting for,” Netflix said in a statement.
The series’ executive producers also had something to say about the news of Lucifer’s final season airing on Netflix.
“We are so incredibly thankful to Netflix for resurrecting our show last season, and now letting us finish the story of Lucifer on our terms,” series executive producers Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson said.
“Most importantly, we want to thank the fans for their incredible passion and support. The best is yet to come!!”
However, fans don’t seem to be too happy with this news, and many of them have taken to Twitter to complain about Lucifer coming to an end.
One fan wrote: “What makes me so angry is that I don’t understand WHY. Don’t we deserve just that honesty, after all we’ve been through?”
Another one added: “Is it the writers’ decision or @Netflix? I desire to know, as much as I desire #LuciferSeason6.”
A third fan shared a similar sentiment, writing: “Let’s join Lucifer In praying for a #LuciferSeason6 there has to be some way to make @netflix or @warnerbrostv give this amazing show the extra seasons it truly deserves. Better the devil you know… #SaveLucifer.”
Thank you for your wonderful and inspiring fanart, Lily ❤! What makes me so angry is that I don’t understand WHY. Don’t we deserve just that honesty, after all we’ve been through? Is it the writers’ decision or @Netflix? I desire to know, as much as I desire #LuciferSeason6 😥😭

Could the fans save the show from cancellation a second time? Could Lucifer be resurrected a second time, or does Netflix’s cancellation spell the end for the show? I think this could be it for Lucifer, unfortunately, even if he is the Devil.
Lucifer stars Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Rachael Harris, DB Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Aimee Garcia, Tricia Helfer, Scarlett Estevez and Kevin Alejandro.
