John Wick Chapter 2’s first trailers are now online and they’ve got more gun-fu in them than you can shake a stick at, which is what we all wanted! Check them out below.
We were all very impressed by Chad Stahelski and David Leitch’s 2014 action thriller John Wick, which featured Keanu Reeves as a retired assassin, who’s forced to get back in the killing game when his dog is brutally murdered. What a premise, right? Well, we were promised a sequel, and here it is, John Wick Chapter 2, and if the trailers are anything to go by, it’ll be just as full of action as the first film was.
You want a war? Or do you just want to give me a gun?
Stahelski and Leitch really made a name for themselves with the first John Wick film. David Leitch in fact has now been hired by Fox to direct Deadpool 2, which I was very glad to hear. Let’s hope that he brings some of that action flair to the already very bloody Deadpool franchise. Once people got to see John Wick we were all demanding a sequel, and Keanu Reeves and Co. duly delivered. John Wick Chapter 2 will follow on from where the last film left off, and it looks like Wick is very much back in business. Judging by the second trailer Lionsgate released, someone will put a hit out on John Wick and he’ll have to shoot a lot of people to survive. Sounds great to me.
I’m so glad to see the return of Lance Reddick’s hotel manager, and I can’t wait to see more of that interesting hotel for assassins. John Leguizamo and Ian McShane also return, and the franchise has added Laurence Fishburn into the mix, which will please many of you Matrix fans out there. Another noticeable addition is that of rapper/actor Common, whom we last saw briefly as Monster T in David Ayer’s rather lacklustre (I’m being kind) comic book movie, Suicide Squad. It looks like Common will be playing an assassin who might prove to be more than a match for our hero, John Wick.
Whoever comes, I’ll kill them all.
Swedish actor, Peter Stormare, will also be joining the cast. You’ll know him from such films as Fargo, Jurassic Park: The Lost World and The Big Lebowski, but his biggest claim to fame was playing John Abruzzi in the hit TV series, Prison Break. He often plays a bad guy which I can easily see him doing yet again in John Wick Chapter 2. However, it looks like Orange is the New Black’s Ruby Rose will be playing the film’s main villain. I’m really looking forward to finding out what’s going in this film.
John Wick Chapter 2 will be in UK cinemas on February 17th, 2017.
