Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo were on an Austrailian chat show and things started to get a little bit awkward when one of the TV hosts dropped a pretty big Thor: Ragnarok spoiler.
WARNING: Thor: Ragnarok SPOILERS to follow.
Thor: Ragnarok is almost upon us. It’s literally only a few days away from release here in the UK (October 27th to be exact), and the cast is well into the film’s promotional campaign. Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) appeared on an Austrailian chat show to discuss their new Marvel movie and things were going along swimmingly until one of the hosts of the show dropped a rather significant plot spoiler for the upcoming movie an then things got a little bit tense. Check out the video below, yet be warned, the SPOILER is a pretty big one, so only watch if you don’t care about spoilers.
OK, so basically, what happened was one of the show’s male hosts got a bit carried away and revealed the fact that Cate Blanchett’s Hela is Thor’s sister, which is something we had no idea of until now and could end up being a significant plot point. Chris Hemsworth was obviously annoyed after the host dropped this spoiler saying, “You can’t give that away”. He’s totally right of course. Mark Ruffalo did his best to rectify the slip-up, but it was too late. The deed had been done.
Marvel’s been doing such a great job at keeping plot points to a minimum on all their movies. It’s a shame that this spoiler got out there. What’s for sure is that they will not be letting that TV host be part of another Marvel press junket again. Mistakes do happen, yet he would have been briefed beforehand on what he can and can’t reveal, so there isn’t really an excuse.
That said, we still don’t know Hela’s motivations for wanting to destroy Asgard, yet it’s a pretty safe bet that it’ll have something to do with family tensions. Hopefully, this plot point doesn’t end up being a huge spoiler. By all accounts, Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok is hilarious and could be one of Marvel’s best movies yet. We’ll have to wait and see.
